U-19 team feted


Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) felicitated the ACC U-19 Women's Championship winning team here on Thursday. CAN handed over Rs 15,000 each to 14 members of the winning team along with coach Jamil Ahmed Ansari for their remarkable achievement. The Nepali team defeated Malaysia by seven wickets in Chiang Mai, Thailand on Tuesday to clinch the championship. Chief sponsor of the Nepali Women Team Wai Wai also presented a cheque of Rs 51,000 to the winning team for their success. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Youth and Sports Gopal Man Shakya also made commitment to award the team. CAN president Binay Raj Pandey and Na tional Sports Council member secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha were also present on the occasion

ACC Under-19 Women’s Championship
Nepal wins Championship
Nepal defeated Malaysia by seven wickets to clinch the first ACC Under-19 Women's Championship in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Skipper Nary Thapa's decision to bowl first paid off as the Nepali bowlers dismissed Malaysia for a paltry 45 runs in 16.2 overs. In reply, Nepal overcame the target losing three wickets in 11.5 overs. Nepal lost Roshani Bohara for naught before the opening pair had opened the accounts. Opener Maya Rawat and Trishna Singh added 20 runs for the second wicket before Rawat was dismissed for 15 off 18 balls that included one four.
Binu Magar was also dismissed without scoring making it 20-3. Trishna Singh and Sita Magar then ensured Nepal overcome the target without further loss adding 27 runs for the unfinished fourth wicket partnership. Trishna remained unbeaten on nine, while Sita scored not out eight. Nur Aisah took two wickets for Malaysia.
Earlier, Sita Thapa Magar had Christina Baret (naught) caught by Nary Thapa making it 1-1. Sonu Khadka then reduced Malaysia to 10-2 bowling Zaibibiana (2). Rekha Rawal then inflicted a double blow, sending Nuramanina Rajak (3) back to the pavilion before dismissing Alessandra Shunmugan (0) to to make it 15-4.
Sonu dismissed Nur Aishah (2) and Dewi Chunam as Malaysia lost three wickets for three runs. Winifred Duraisingam and Efilla Tukok added 14 runs for the seventh wicket before the duo departed in the space of five runs. Sita Magar wrapped up the innings when she trapped Alice Choo leg before.
Player of the match, Sonu Khadka took 3-9, while Sita Magar and Rekha Rawal claimed two wickets each. Keshari Chaudhary and Trishna Singh took one apiece.
Nepal had beaten Malaysia by the same margin in the league round. Nepal were hardly trobuled in the entire tournament as they registered comprehensive wins over Bhutan, China, Singapore and Kuwait in the league matches. Nepal entered the semi-finals as Group B winners and routed hosts Thailand by 83 runs.
This was Nepali Women team's second international participation. In their first outing, Nepal lost to Bangladesh in the final of the ACC Women's Cricket Tournament in Malaysia last year.
Nary captained the side and was later awarded with the Best Emerging Asian Woman Cricketer-2007 award on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in July.

Nepal beat Thailand to enter Final
Trishna Singh’s patient knock of 33 steered Nepal to an easy 83-run win over hosts Thailand and a place in the final of the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship at the Gyam Khana cricket ground in Chiang Mai today.
Invited to bat first by Thailand skipper Naruemol Chaiwai, Nepal made 132-8 in their allotted 25 overs before dismissing the hosts for 49 runs in 15.5 overs.
Nepal will play for the championship on Tuesday against Malaysia who pulled a thrilling two-run victory over Hong Kong in another semi-final match held at the Prem Centre today.
Nepal were struggling at 14-2 by the fourth over when Nathakan Chantam dismissed openers Maya Rawat (two) and Sarita Magar (two) cheaply. But the arrival of Trishna changed the complextion of the match as she put on 48 runs third wicket stand with Binu Magar and 39 runs fourth wicket partnership with Sita Magar.
Player of the match Trishna struck just two fours in her watchful 62-ball innings while Binu made 23 from 32 balls with two hits to the fence. Sita contributed 14 from 30 balls. The Nepali total was also boosted by 48 sundries. Piraorn Kamla was the pick of the Thailand bowlers with 4-17 from four overs while Chantam took two and Siwaporn Kosathong and Pornthiva Olarakchat bagged one wicket apiece.
In reply, Thailand were never in contention after losing two wickets in the first two overs.
Sita Magar dismissed Kaewkan Monkonsam (naught) and Sirinton Sanechop (naught) to reduce the hosts to 0-2.
Wicketkeeper Pundarika Prathanmir top scored with eight runs for Thailand as none of their batters reached the double figures. Almost half the Thailand’s total came through extra runs (21).
Rekha Rawal took three wickets conceding just nine runs from five overs and Keshari Chaudhari bagged three scalps giving away nine runs from 2.5 overs. Sita Magar finished with 2-11 and Sonu Khadka took 1-17.


Nepal trashed China
Nepal ended their league round on a high note with a comprehensive 66-run mauling over China in the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship at Prem Centre in Chiang Mai, Thailand today.
Already qualified for the semi-finals, Nepal not only kept their 100 per cent winning record intact but also rung a warning bell to their next opponent by yet another resounding victory.
Nepal, who topped the Group ‘B’ with a maximum of 10 from five matches, will meet Group ‘A’ runners up Thailand in the semi-final. Hong Kong topped Group ‘A’ while Malaysia finished second behind Nepal in Group ‘A’ with eight points.
Put into bat first by China’s skipper Yu Miao, Nepal scored a massive 128-2 in their allotted 25 overs with player of the match Maya Rawat making 42 runs before being run out. China could only muster 62-7 in reply.
Rawat and her opening partner Sabina Karki put on 76 runs on the board to lay the foundation for a big total. Rawat struck three fours in her 64-ball innings while Karki made 17 off 47 balls.
Li Xiaotong bowled Karki in the 17.5 over and Rawat was run out three balls later. Binu Magar remained unbeaten with a freeflowing 17 off 16 balls and skipper Nary Thapa made 18 not out from 25 deliveries that included one hit to the fence.
In reply, China never looked like chasing the mammoth target, thanks to the tight Nepali bowling attack. The Chinese players found stroke making extremely difficult and were eventually restricted to 62 runs in 25 overs.
Skipper Yu Miao top-scored with 16 from 22 balls while half the China’s
total (30) came through sundries. Binu Magar was the pick of the Nepali bowlers with 2-16 from four overs. Sita Magar, Rekha Rawal, Sonu Khadka, Keshari Chaudhari and Nary Thapa also took one wicket apiece.
Nepal will play Thailand in the semi-final at Gym Khana cricket grounds on Monday. The other semi-final match is between Hong Kong and Malaysia at the Prem Centre the same day. The final is slated for Tuesday.

Nepal enters Semi final
Nepal strolled into the semi-finals of the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship with a four-wicket win over Kuwait at the Gym Khana grounds in Chiang Mai, Thailand today.
Opting to field first, Nepal once again proved their bowling prowess by restricting Kuwait for a paltry 36 runs in 15 overs. Chasing seemingly easy target, Nepal achieved victory in the 12.1 overs but not before coming across some tense moments.
Siobham Gomez top scored for Kuwait with 18. Rekha Rawal was the pick of the Nepali bowlers with 3-7. Keshari Chaudhari (2-8) and Sonu Khadka (2-10) took two wickets while Sita Magar and Trishna Singh bagged one apiece.
In reply, Nepal lost Maya Rawat (naught) at 3-1 in the second over and by the 10th over they were struggling at 14-5. New bowl bowlers Priyada Murali and Siobhan Gomez combined to rattle the top five Nepali wickets. Trishna Singh (two), Sabina Karki (four), Susmita Chaudhary (one) and Binu Magar (four) were all dismissed cheaply before skipper Nary pulled her team out of further trouble with unbeaten 12 runs from seven balls. Sita Magar remained not out on four.
Murali, who was declared player of the match, took three wickets conceding just three runs from five overs and Gomez took 2-11. Alina D’Silva also claimed one wicket.
The fourth consecutive victory meant Nepal lead Group ‘B’ with maximum eight points
with a game to spare. Nepal will play their last league match against China on Saturday.


Nepal registered second win
Nepal defeated Bhutan by nine wickets for their second consecutive victory in the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship at the Gym Khana cricket ground in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Put into bat first after Nepal skipper Nary Thapa won the toss, Bhutan made 34-9 in their allotted 25 overs. Anju Gurung and Sangay Choki, both of whom remained not out, top-scored with eight runs each for Bhutan. Sonu Khadka, who was later declared the player of the match, was the pick of the Nepali bowlers with 2-3 from five overs. Rekha Rawal, Keshari Chaudhary, Nary and Binu Magar also took one wicket each. The Nepali ladies also effected two run outs to compound the Bhutanese misery.
In reply, Nepal overcame the 35-run target losing just one wicket in 9.3 overs. Opener Maya Rawat made unbeaten 20 off 25 balls with one four while Trishna Singh remained not out on two. Roshani Bohara (two) was the only Nepali wicket to fall, trapped leg before wicket by Anju Gurung.
Nepali coach Jamil Ansari expressed happiness with the comfortable victory and hoped the team would keep up the spirit through out the championship. Ansari boosted his team’s better bowling and fielding than the rest of the other opponent in the group. Ansari was, however, worried with his team’s batting. “ We are yet to be tested in batting and hope our girls will get that opportunity in the matches to come,” he said.
Bhutan coach DS Gurung praised Nepal’s performance especially bowling. He even went further to claim that Nepal was the strongest opponent in their group. “Everyone takes Nepal as a tough opponent,” said Gurung.
Nepal will play their next match against Singapore at Prem Centre on Tuesday.

Nepal opens with win
Nepal registered an easy seven-wicket victory over Malaysia in the inaugural-day match at the ACC Under-19 Women’s Championship in Chiang Mai, Thailand .
Electing to field first after skipper Nary Thapa won the toss, Nepal bowled out Malaysia for just 51 runs in 21.2 overs and overcame the total losing three wickets in 15.2 overs. Sita Magar, Rekha Rawal and Keshari Chaudhary took two wickets apiece, while Sonu Khadka, skipper Nary Thapa and Binu Magar pocketed one wicket each as Malaysian innings folded with more than three overs remaining.
Opener Christina Baret (13) was the lone batswoman to score in double figures for Malaysia. Four players failed to open their accounts. Malaysia’s total was also boosted by 21 extra runs.
In reply, Nepal added 16 runs for the opening stand before Sarita Magar fell for four runs. Opener Maya Rawat remained unbeaten on 13 off 41 balls, while Binu Magar was the top-scorer with an unbeaten 17 off 25 balls that included two fours. Maya and woman of the match Bishnu added 25 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket stand. Trishna Singh added seven runs, while Roshani Bohara fell in the second ball she faced before she could open her accounts.
Zoe Landry, Nur Aishah and Alessandra Shunmugam took one wicket each for Malaysia. Nepal will now face Bhutan on Sunday.

Nepal Bangladesh Friendly Series
BCB wins two day match
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) U-17 team lost the two-day friendly match against Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) U-17 team by an inning and 45 runs Played at the TUICG.
Resuming their first innings at 44-4, CAN were dismissed for 75 runs in the 45.3 overs in reply to the tourists' first innings total of 240. With the lead of 165 runs, BCB enforced the hosts to follow on and the CAN failed to save the match as they were bowled out for 120 .
Nischal Chaudhary resumed at 11 but was dismissed without scoring a single run. Sagar Pun, who started the day on 18 not out, made 46 from 106 balls but got little support from the other end.
Mohammad Shentu (314) and Mohammad Asif Hossian (3-12) claimed three wickets apiece while Dewan Shabbir (2-27) and Sumit Chaudhary (2-20) bagged two each for BCB.
Forced to follow on, CAN showed some resiliance but were eventually bowled out in 62.1 overs. Nischal top scored with 41 while skipper Prithu Baskota made 25. BCB's Sumit Chaudhary finished the match with six wickets after taking 4-23. Dewan Shabbir also took two while Shentu and Hossian picked up one.
The tourists have already clean swept the threematch one-day series against the side who are undergoing closed camp training for the ACC Under17 Elite Cup scheduled here for February 4-13. >>>Scorecard

Bangladesh leads 2-0
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Under-17 team lost their second consecutive friendly match
against the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) U-17 team here at the TUIC Ground.
After losing their first match by eight wickets on Sunday, CAN went down by seven wickets today. BCB skipper Jayanto Das won the toss and asked CAN to bat first, CAN were bowled out for 106 runs in 37.3 overs. The visitors reached the target losing three wickets in 29.4 overs.
CAN batsmen once again had no answer to the disciplined BCB bowling as they were on a backfoot early in the match. CAN were reeling at 12-2 in the fifth over as openers Pradeep Ayree (one) and Ayush Rana (naught) were dismissed in the space of three balls.
Mohammad Shentu trapped Ayree leg before wicket with the last ball of the fourth over and Dewan Shabbir had Rana caught by Ashiqul Alam in the next over.
CAN skipper Prithu Baskota failed to even open his account despite surviving 26 balls. The CAN skipper was caught by wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan off Abu Zayed bowling in the 13th over to leave CAN at 26-3.
Sagar Pun and Nishchal Chaudhary then made sure they do not fall short of their previous total of 62 runs with a fourth-wicket partnership of 61 runs. Pun top scored with 75-ball 45 while Chaudhary made 21 off 44 balls. None of the other batsmen could score in double figures.
Mohammad Asif Khan (3-22) and Dewan Shabbir (3-33) were pick of the BCB bowlers. Mohammad Sentu (1-13), Abu Zayed (1-8) and Mamun Hosian (1-18) also picked up one wickets apiece.
In reply, BCB lost three wickets in quick succession but Mehdi Hasan and captain Das guided their team home comfortably. Ashiqul Alam (five) was first to go, caught by wicketkeeper Nischal Chaudhary off Krishna Karki in the fifth over. Pradeep Ayeree then claimed the wickets of Sayem Alam Rizvi (two) and Shahnaz Ahmed (14) to reduce BCB for 32-3 inside 10 overs before Das and man of the match Hasan put an unbeaten 75-run partnership for the visitors.
Hasan scored 43 off 66 balls including five fours and a six while Das made a patient 30 and struck one four and as many six in his 79-ball innings. Ayree finished with figures of 2-28 from 7.4 overs and Karki took 1-25 off six overs.
The two teams will play their last of the three one-day matches on Wednesday before meeting for a two-day match on Friday. The CAN team comprises the players in the closed camp training for the ACC Under-17 Elite Cup scheduled here from February 4-13.>>Scoredcard

 
 
 


Aditya Memorial Inter College Twenty20
Triton, National Campus in final
Triton College and National Campus cruised to the final of second Aaditya Memorial Inter-college Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here at the Tundikhel grounds today.
Triton defeated Capital College and Research Centre (CCRC) by five wickets and National Campus eased past Himalayan White House International College by eight wickets in semi-finals.
In the first semi-final of the day, CCRC scored 107-9 in their allotted 20 overs after electing to bat first. CCRC's total was boosted by an unbeaten 30 off 16 balls from tailender Binit Satyal and middle order batsman Sushan Poudel, who scored 20 off 26 balls.
Satyal's fiery innings contained two sixes and as many fours. Triton skipper Ritesh Singh took two wickets conceding 13 runs from three overs while Sanjeet Sah, Keshav Yadav, Indra Kamal Manandhar and Bijay Gautam claimed one wicket each. Triton also effected three run outs.
In reply, Triton chased the total for the loss of five wickets in 18.2 overs. Opener Robin Joshi scored 20 off 21 balls with two boundaries and Indra Kamal made quickfire 22 not out from 15 balls with three hits to the fence. Man of the match Ritesh chipped in with unbeaten 12 off eight balls. Rupesh Shrivastav (2-23) and Sumit Shrestha (2-11) bagged two wickets each for CCRC.
In the other semi-final, Himalayan White House made 102-9 in 20 overs thanks to a fluent 39-run contribution by opener Suman Saud. Saud struck five fours in his 38-ball knock. Aashish Man Singh also scored run-a-ball 21 which included four fours.
Suvendu Pandey was the pick of the National Campus bowlers with 4-11 from four overs. Sandeep Shrestha (2-10) also bagged two and Prasanga Panta (1-27) one wicket.
National Campus had a poor start chasing 103-run victory target. They lost their opener Rupesh Sharma (four) at 6-1 but man of the match Sandeep Shrestha (44) steadied their innings with a second wicket stand of 39-run with Suvendu Pandey (eight).
Ayush Dhakhwa trapped Suvendu leg before wicket to reduce National Campus at 45-2 by the fifth over. But Sandeep again put on 59-run unbroken third wicket partnership with Prajwal Pandey (26) to guide his team comfortably home in just 12.2 overs. Sandeep struck nine fours in his 31-ball knock while Prajwol made 26 off 27 balls that include six hits to the ropes.

SNB Memorial Cricket
Budhanilkantha wins SNB
Budhanilkantha School beat Galaxy Public School by eight wickets in the fifth SNB Memorial Inter-school Cricket Tournament final here on Sunday. Batting first, Galaxy were bowled out for 55 in 20.2 overs and Budhanilkanta reached 57-2 in 11.4 overs. Rahul Malla struck unbeaten 23 for the winners. Man of the match, Surya Gurung took 3-3. Bibhav Raj Joshi of Galaxy was adjudged the man of the series while his teammate Dipesh Agrawal the best batsman. Shuvatara’s Sha-shank Acharya was named the best bowler.


Deep Jyoti outclassed LA
Deep Jyoti defeated Little Angel's by five wickets and Budhanilkantha beat English Preparatory School (EPS) by eight wickets in the second SNB Memorial Inter-school Cricket Tournament on Monday. Shamim Akhtar scored 52 runs as Little Angel' scored 116-5 but Deep Jyoti overcame the total for the loss of five wickets in 19.1 overs. In another match, EPS were dismissed for 53 runs in 14.4 overs and Budhanilkantha surpassed the total losing two wickets in 5.3 overs.

Host AVM defeated Nightingale
  Rajan Memorial beat   Daffodil by 13 runs and   hosts Adarsha Vidya   Mandir defeated   Nightingale by 10 runs   in the fifth SNB   Memorial Inter-school   Cricket Tournament.   Sujan KC scored 18 and   Aamir Khan, who later   picked up four wickets, made 17 as Rajan Memorial made 93-6 in 20 overs. Daffodil were all out for 80 runs in 17. 3 overs despite Gaurab Mainali's 26-ball 23. In another match, AVM made 97-8 and Nightingale could only muster 87-9. Man of the match Safal Shrestha made 30 for AVM while Sunil Shah scored 26 for Nightingale.

Squad for ACC Under-19 Women’s Championship

CAN announced 14 players for ACC Under-19 women Chanpionship to be held in Thailand from 13 to 23 December 2008.
Nary Thapa- captain, Maya Rawat- vice captain. Other members in the team are Sarita Diswa Magar, Sita Rana Magar, Keshari Chaudhary, Sabina Karki, Gita Chudal, Mamata Thapa, Trishna Singh, Roshani Bohara, Sonu Khadka, Rekha Rawal, Sushmita Chaudhary and Binu Budha Magar.
Benza Rayamajhi, Samjhana Sharma, Sarita Magar and Rabita Ojha are named in the reserve list.
Jamil Amhed Ansari is the coach of the team, while CAN Vice-President Chatur Bahadur Chand is the team manager and CAN Member Uttam Karmacharya the assistant team manager.

Nepal Bangladesh Friendly Series
Nepal struggle
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) U-17 team is struggling at 44-4 in reply to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) U-17 team's commanding 240 on the first day of their two-day friendly match here today.
Opting to bat first, BCB were bowled out for 240 in the 68.3 overs with Jayanto Das scoring 67 and Nurul Hasan Sohan 59. BCB were reeling at 44-4 after 26 overs in their first innings.
BCB skipper Das struck five fours in his 148-ball innings while Sohan hit six fours and a six in 77 balls. Mohammad Shentu (28), Shahnaz Ahmad (25), Ikedar Nazeef Ahmed (21) and Ashiqul Alam (20) also contributed valuable runs for the visitors. Krishna Karki was the pick of the CAN bowlers with 457 while Amandeep Singh took 3-65. CAN skipper Prithu Baskota and Ujjwol Thapa also bagged one wicket apiece.
CAN were on the backfoot early on after losing openers. Dewan Shabbir bowled Ujjwol Thapa (two) in the third over and Shentu had Ayush Rana (two) caught by Mehdi Hasan in the sixth over. Mohammad Asif Hossain then claimed the wickets of Prithu (seven) and Pradeep Ayree (naught) to reduced CAN for 23-4.
Sagar Pun (18) and Nischal Chaudhary (11) will resume the CAN innings on Saturday. Pun hit two boundaries in his 58-ball innings while Chaudhary struck one four in 33 balls. Hossian finished with 2-12 while Shabbir (1-12) and Shentu (1-6) took one wicket each for the visitors.
Bangladesh clean sweep
Bangladesh Cricket Board U-17 team clean swept three-match one-day friendly series against the Cricket Association of Nepal U-17 team after Nurul Hasan Sohan’s brilliant century steered the visitors to 96-run win played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground .
Electing to bat first, BCB overcame a shaky start to post a huge 269-8 in their allotted 45 overs, thanks mainly to wicketkeeper-bastman Sohan who struck 13 fours and two sixes in his 98-ball 105. CAN could only muster 173-8, the hosts’ best score in the three-match series. BCB also won the previous two matches quite comfortably, the first by eight wickets and the second by seven.
BCB were jolted in the first ball of their innings when Krishna Karki bowled Ashiqul Alam (naught). BCB were reeling at 3-16 by the fifth over after Karki had skipper Jayanto Das (two) caught by Kritan Gurung in the third over and bowled Mehdi Hasan (naught) two overs later.
Man of the match Sohan joined No 3 batsman Iktendar Nazeef Ahmad and the two steadied their ship with a stand of 83 for the fourth wicket. When Ahmad was bowled for 41 by Pratik Singh in the 25th over, BCB were nicely place at 99-4. Sohan was dismissed by Pradeep Ayree in the 38th over but not before putting on yet another 110 runs fifth wicket partnership with Shahnaz Ahmed (44) to lay the foundation for a big total.
Tailender Mamum Hossian also contributed quickfire 32 off 22 to further compound the CAN misery. Karki finished with 4-56 off nine overs while skipper Prithu Baskota took 2-49 for CAN. Pradeep Ayree and Pratik Singh also claimed one wicket apiece.
In reply, Pradeep Ayree made a free flowing 72 to top score for the hosts. Ayree hit nine fours and three sixes in his 66-ball innings. Kriten Gurung also chipped in 20 and Sagar Pun made 17. Iktendar Nazeef (2-22), Jayanto Das (2-29) and Mehdi Hasan (2-29) took two wickets each while Mohammad Shentu and Didar Hossain bagged one apiece.

CAN announces squad for close camp

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) called up 24 players for closed camp training as part of their preparation for the ACC U-17 Elite Cup slated for February 4-13 in Kathmandu.
"The players were selected on the basis of their performances in the recently concluded Boost National Cricket Tournament," said CAN in a release. The players were picked up after conducting the Age Verification Test as directed by the Asian Cricket Council.
Among the selected players from Region No 4 are Krishna Karki, Sagar Pun, Nischal Chaudhary, Amandeep Singh, Nirmal Thapa, Kirten Gurung and Krishna Sen. Selected from Region No 3 are Prithu Banskota, Rochak Bhatta, Ujjwol Thapa, Ayush Rana, Pawan Shrestha and Prajesh Bahadur Singh. Aditya Shrestha and Aman Bahadur Thapa (Region 1); Akash Singh Pariyar, Sahanbaz Ali, Abinash Karna, Sameer Nepal and Bibek Dali (Region 2); Nawaraj Shahi and Pratik Singh (Region 5); and Pradeep Ayree and Bhuwan Karki (Region 6) are also in the team.
Sumit Chandra Dev, Kunain Rain, Samim Akhtar, Rakesh Barai, Sunil Sunuwar and Nirmal Rokka are in the reserve list.
The players will undergo training from Tuesday and will play friendly matches against the Bangladesh Cricket Board Under-17 team during the camp. The Bangladesh team will arrive here on November 21 and will play the one-dayers on November 23, 24 and 26. The two teams will meet in the two-day match from November 28.

Selection for Closed camp training
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Sunday selected an 18 member team for closed camp training for the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship slated for December 13-23 in Thailand. Sita Rana Magar, Neri Thapa, Keshari Chaudhary, Mamata Thapa, Binu Budha Magar, Sarita Thapa Magar, Samjhana Sharma and Trishna Singh are from Region No 5 (Nepalgunj), while Roshani Bohara, Maya Rawat, Sonu Khadka, Rekha Rawal and Rachita Ojha were selected from Region No 6 (Baitadi). Others in the camp are Sushmita Chaudhary (Bhairahawa), Gita Chudal and Sarita Magar (Kathmandu), and Sabina Karki and Benja Rayamajhi (Biratnagar)

Yeti Airlines wins friendly
Yeti Airlines Kathmandu XI defeated Jaya Shree Cricket Club of Pune by eight wickets in their friendly match at the Pulchowk Engineering Ground on Friday.
Batting first, the Indian team scored 141-9 in their allotted 30 overs, while the local team overcame the target losing two wickets in 27.1 overs. Yeti Airlines were penalised one over for their slow over-rate.
Rahul Milke top-scored for the visitors with an unbeaten 46 off just 32 balls hitting four boundaries and three sixes. Opener Aakash Dangmali scored 17, while Datta Mitbhaukar scored run-a-ball 14. Pankaj Sharma remained unbeaten on 13 and Ram Das Jagtap made 11.
For Yeti Airlines, skipper Paras Khadka, Rom Shrestha and Sudeep Sharma took two wickets each, while Rupesh Shrivastav, Sharad Vesawkar and Prasanna Shakya claimed one apiece.
In reply, Subash Khakurel scored a fine half century as the local team reached 143/2 with 17 balls remaining. Khakurel hit seven fours in his 76-ball 52.
Sharad Vesawkar hit four fours and a six in his unbeaten 49-ball 36, while opener Dipendra Chaudhary scored 34 off 32 balls that included five boundaries. Skipper Khadka remained unbeaten on eight.
Datta Mitbhaukar and Rahul Malke took one wickets each for the Indian team. Malke of the Indian team and Rom Shrestha of Yeti Airlines Kathmandu XI were jointly declared the man of the match.


Boost to sponsor U-17

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) signed Boost as the fifth sponsor here on Sunday. Boost will sponsor the ongoing Under-17 National Cricket Tournament. Mohan Man Rajbhandari of Buddhiman Gajendraman Pvt Ltd, the local marketing agency of Boost — Produced by Glaxo and Smithkline Pharmaceuticals Company of India — of behalf of the sponsors and CAN President Binay Raj Pandey signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The sponsors will provide CAN Rs 500,000 for the tournament which ends on November 15.
“This is just the beginning. We are planning to make it a long-term relationship,” said Pandey. “The relationship with Boost is important for us as they have assured of putting in young cricketers in the camp at their Boost Cricket Academy in India,” he added.
Meanwhile, Pandey also informed that the Bangladesh Under-17 team was visiting Nepal for three one-day and one two-day matches. “We will prepare two teams from the players selected for the ACC U-17 Elite Cup and they will play matches with the Bangladeshi team, which will arrive here on November 21,” he said.
