Cricket Association of Nepal supports the development of coaches and coach developers at all levels of the game, to ensure they’re able to provide players with the best possible experience of playing cricket and the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding of the game to help them fulfil their potential.

After extensive research,  CAN  is developing a coaching pathway which is being designed for beginners through to experienced coaches. It will be supported by a comprehensive coach education and accreditation programme which will offer coaches a progression of training opportunities and resources to improve their practical skills and knowledge, increase their confidence and enhance their status as coaches.

The purpose of the Coaching Pathway is to provide the right courses and qualifications for coaches working in every unique environment in Irish cricket. Ultimately, our aim is to help players love the game of cricket and achieve their potential within the game.

The Coaching Pathway recognizes that players have different needs. For the first time, it specifically recognizes the difference between coaching children and coaching young people and adults

We offer a range of world-leading learning experiences and qualifications to suit people coaching at all levels of the game, from those volunteering at their local club to professional coaches working in an elite, international environment.

All our courses will be designed around the players you work with and their stage of development.

As there is a high demand for qualified coaches in every level of the game from grassroots through to the elite, there is great potential of pursuing cricket coaching as a prosperous career for the enthusiasts.

Umpire Ranking

The introduction of the Umpire Ranking was aimed at allowing the best and most respected umpires to stand in the sport's biggest games; to improve the overall standard of umpiring at national and international level representing Nepal; and to establish a benchmark to which future umpires could aspire.

Cricket has become the most beloved game for the students in the present era. School cricket plays a vibrant role within the CAN’s player pathway.  In many cases, a primary school “School Hunt” session or block or sessions may be the first opportunity that a young person gets to experience participating in cricket. 

The aim of Cricket Association of Nepal is to support the delivering coaches to make “School Hunt” interesting, safe and fun – while also ensuring maximum participation for each young person within the session.  Hopefully, this session or block of sessions will encourage young players to want to try cricket at their local Club. 

Cricket Association of Nepal aspire to work with both private and public school to promote the game.

Cricket Association of Nepal is requesting Ministry of Education to include Cricket on Curriculum development – ensuring that this provides not only for cricket development but also for students’ more general physical education, fitness and health needs

 

Each school year, CAN runs a series of National School Competitions.  The aims of the competitions are simple: to get more school pupils interested in cricket, to get more school pupils participating in cricket, to provide a competitive option for schools and ultimately to find the National Champion in each competition.  The following competitions run on an annual basis, as of the 2015/2016.

Women's cricket is one of the fastest growing sports in Nepal with hundreds of girls taking up junior cricket each year. In Nepal the sport is inclusive and widespread. CAN delivers development opportunities to over 20,000 girls in our introductory programme by the end of 2016. Subsequently, we are closely working with our clubs and volunteers to enable them to progress players to the hard ball game. We also aspire to start Women’s National League within 2016.

Women's cricket is a tremendous force for social transformation and its presence in the Nepal is most heartening. As promoters and developers of the game, to witness the skill and passion with which girls are playing cricket reveals to us the fundamental appeal of this great sport with great Spirit. It is being played for the pure joy it brings in terms of athleticism, team-spirit and personal expression.

The Nepal national women's cricket team is the team that represents the country of Nepal in international women's cricket. They made their international debut in the ACC Women's Tournament in Malaysia in July 2007. Nepal has been participating in various international tournaments since then. Nepal's current captain is Rubina Chettri, coach is Shyam Sun Jung Thapa and manager is Sanjaya Raj Singh.

Women's cricket is thriving and the national team (made up of top athletes from other sports) did very well to reach the final of the 2007 ACC Women's Tournament. Nepal won the 2008 ACC Under-19 Women's Championship and defended its title in 2010. Also Nepal holds the title of ACC Under-19 Women's Championship in 2012 held in Kuwait as well.

In the ACC Women Twenty20 in Malaysia in 2009, Singapore needed two runs off the last over for victory with five wickets intact. Rubina Chhetri was given the 'hopeless' over but she did a miracle by taking five wickets in five balls as the match ended in a draw as she threw a wide. Nepal won the match in bowl-out. With the rare incident, Rubina also became the first Nepalese cricketer, man or woman, to take a hat-trick.

Cricket Association of Nepal envisioned  to be the leading governing body among associate nation in providing access to the sport of cricket for people with disabilities. And to deliver a culture of inclusion at all levels within our sport and ensure that people with any impairment are respected and valued for the contribution that they make to the game. All disabilities initiatives and activities take place under the auspices of the CAN, and we feature regular news items , on regular basis. Cricket Association of the Blind, Nepal has been promoting cricket on blind youth and blind children.

Shortlisted as world's top four Organizations in Beyond Sport Award 2013, Philadelphia, under sports for social inclusion category.

Nominated as world's top three Organizations in Peace and Sport Award 2013, Monaco, for the promotion of blind women cricket in Nepal.

Participated in the T20 blind cricket world cup 2012, India, becoming Nepal's first team to play in the world cup.

Nepal also hosted first of its kind one day cricket for physically disabled people. The wheel chair cricket competition is so far only hosted in Nepal and Pakistan. Coaching cricketers with a physical disability can be a rewarding and challenging experience. It will make you challenge your thoughts on people with a disability and let you see that they can do a lot more than you may have thought. A s a result you will become a better coach and person for doing so. The cricket tournament was organised by the Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association. Nepal and Pakistan played three matches of ten overs each on 18-19 February 2015.

In the last five years, craze of cricket in Nepal has been exponentially grown at every age level. CAN gear up towards enhancing the levels of excellence – in all spheres especially towards the development of infrastructure and establishment of NCA.

National Cricket Academy (NCA) is established to solve this issue of talent scarcity in Jan 2013. Through high performance coaching which covers both technical aspect as well as mental aspect, NCA will make players ready to play higher level of cricket.

Under the auspices of the Cricket Association of Nepal, Cricket Coaching under NCA is equipped with premiere facilities, which welcome gifted player from the regional, national as well as international cricket arenas. Any parents who aspire to train their kids in our NCA are much welcome. As a part of NCA program, we are much focused on finding emerging talents as a future star of Nepal from every corner of Nepal.

The new complex of National Cricket Academy contains all the modern facilities including Gym, Automatic bowling machine, Indoor facilities, practice nets and additional facilities to groom players in pleasant environment.  

National Cricket Academy strives to act as a cricketing academic wing of CAN to effectively search, train and grow the young talents for the future. To have cricketers who right at the starting point of their career are aware of not just delicacy and refinement of the game but have the most modern outlook too. 

National Cricket Academy is committed to make them strong, to think and act like leaders and to equip them with self-confidence in the face of adversity, on the field of play and off it.

Cricket Association of Nepal has been working in a team environment and always welcome you a new member.

If cricket is to continue growing then it is essential that we have a strong and vibrant network of Clubs.

Cricket association of Nepal is trying to introduce the accreditation program for the clubs who wish to register under CAN and its associate regional wings. We will follow the ECB Club mark methodology to operate and monitor the club accreditation program. Through CCM, we will look on to the key elements of club operations, making clubs more attractive to parents, children, local authorities and funding agencies.

It will also help clubs to develop their core cricketing activities, which is where the most tangible benefits will be seen. CCM has been designed to help all clubs fulfil their potential, irrespective of size

Those Clubs awarded CCM are deemed to be providing a safe and effective environment for their members.

CAN is planning to launch Junior Cricket program as “Rhino Horn” ,  an introductory cricket program designed for beginners, incorporating high participation rates with skill development. Through a series of fun sessions, children participate in a variety of activities and modified games learning the fundamental skills of batting, bowling and fielding. The Kanga program is the enjoyable introduction to CAN most popular bat and ball sport. 

Rhino Horn represents the first step in player, umpire and coach development pathways and leads on to the already popular Cricket. It’s success is based on involving and training teachers and parents as coaches so they have the knowledge and expertise to confidently organize and run the Rhino Horn program.

Our programs are designed to teach players the basics of cricket including batting, bowling, fielding and wicket keeping. It is our goal that through proper coaching they will become well prepared to participate in matches and progress further in the sport, as well as becoming healthier and more physically fit.
